Smiltene region – an adventure in a symphony of flavors!

Smiltene is a strong part of Vidzeme’s “tourism bloodstream”, which runs along route A2. The region of Smiltene is a place to live, work, build a family, learn, actively relax, preserve cultural traditions and develop business.

Breathtaking natural views – sandstone outcrops, dolomite cliffs, hissing rivers and countless lakes, interspersed with hospitable masters, who honor values of latvian traditions high and will open their homes, courtyards and also souls doors in August to bring to the table and present their special, seasonal dishes.

This year, the scent of home cafes in Smiltene region will be felt on August 20 and 21. Here guests will be treated with a variety of dishes, such as those from ancestral recipes or discovered experimentally, those which have been prepared using the best quality meat and seasonal home-grown vegetables and fruit or vegetarian masterpieces, from which the taste buds will rejoice in joy, restaurant – worthy meals and more and more.

The best way to get an impression of a visited place is to walk around it just as locals would.
