Let the Daugava road lead you further to Aizkraukle, where the waves of sensations invite you to travel back in time to the recent history of the 20th century. The ancient Hanseatic town Koknese, where medieval castle ruins stand proud among the waves of antiquity. Pļaviņas invites you to enjoy a ride in a Viking boat overlooking the wide promenade of the Daugava, feeling the sway of the waves. This year, the towns that are rocking in the waves of life also invite you to their birthday celebrations. Koknese, one of the oldest towns, celebrates 745 years of its existence, while Plaviņas is already celebrating its 95th anniversary and will celebrate it again this year. Aizkraukle, one of the youngest towns in Latvia, celebrates its 55th anniversary with a series of cultural events throughout the year.
